For those that have been following the war and the
empty promises from the Democrats, then this comes as no shock. To the everyday American, it may come as a bit of a surprise, but when faced with the reality of the situation in the Middle East and Iraq the Dems finally realized how unrealistic they've been.
Here's why:
First: You bring the troops home immediately and it destabilizes Iraq and allows for an Islamic Fundamentalist type regime to take over. Did we really sacrifice the lives of our troops to replace one evil regime with another?
Second: We would put all our Allies at risk. Those in Iraq, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, etc. etc. With Iraq ran by extremists and Iran gaining nuclear power, all of those nations would be at risk for increased terrorist attacks and war.
Third: Oil. Yes, that dirty dirty word. But that black gold is what will keep this country going. What heats our homes? Runs our cars? Powers our factories? Oil. If we can't control the supply then we lose control of the single most vital raw material in our economy. As much as those enviromentalists hate it, without it they couldn't afford their Prius' and trips to the Far East to protest Dolphin hunting.
